Many drivers choose pickup trucks for their power, durability, and hauling and towing capabilities. The 2024 Ford F-150 has the performance and utility truck enthusiasts love but also includes key safety features intended to protect you and your passengers while on the road. Ford safety features use cutting-edge technology and modern innovation to outfit the F-150 with a variety of systems to assist the driver and increase overall safety.

Ford F-150 Safety Features We Love

BLIS with Cross-Traffic Alert2024 Ford F-150 | Algona, IA

The 2024 F-150 is equipped with Ford’s BLIS technology, which is their signature blind spot information system. The F-150 is equipped with sensors that can detect when a vehicle enters your blind spot and will alert you via an indicator light on the side mirror. This technology can see what you can’t, for safer merging and lane switching.

The Cross-Traffic alert feature uses this technology to help you safely back out of a driveway or parking spot. It can detect when a vehicle enters the space behind your vehicle and will flash on the side view mirror, give an audible warning, and show on the display which side the vehicle is coming from.

Lane Keeping System

Lane drifting can happen to the best of us. Especially on long drives, it can be hard to stay perfectly in the center of the lane the entire ride. The Ford F-150 assists drivers with the lane-keeping system. Cameras that scan both sides of a lane marker and use that to help keep your truck aligned.

There are three modes: Lane-Keeping Aid which alerts the driver with steering wheel vibrations, Lane-Keeping Assist which gently steers the truck back to center, and Driver Alert which reminds the driver to pull over and take a break if needed. Drivers can choose whether they want active Lane-Keeping Assist or Aid mode, or both.

Pre-Collision Assistance with Emergency Braking

The Pre-Collision Assistance system can detect when a vehicle or pedestrian enters the area in front of the truck. First, the system will sound an alert and feature a message on the dashboard. If the driver is not able to react in time, the system will then automatically brake to hopefully avoid the collision altogether or at least lessen the impact.

SOS Post-Crash Alert System

These safety systems greatly reduce the risk of a crash, but no amount of technology can make the chance of a crash zero. In the unfortunate event that you experience a crash, the SOS Post-Crash Alert System will take over to quickly get you the help you need. If the airbag is deployed the vehicle will flash the turn signal lamps and intermittently sound the horn with the intention to get the attention of other drivers.
