The 2024 Ford Maverick is a small truck that can do big-truck stuff. It offers two powertrains with amazing towing features and tech. Take a look at the capabilities across the lineup.
Towing Capabilities of the 2024 Ford Maverick
Standard Towing and Payload Capacities
The 2024 Maverick has a standard towing capacity of 2,000 pounds with both the gas and hybrid powertrains. The base engine is a 2.0L EcoBoost that makes 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive come standard, and all-wheel drive is available.
The optional hybrid powertrain pairs a 2.5L engine with an electric motor to make 191 horsepower combined and 155 lb-ft of torque. It pairs with an eCVT and is offered with front-wheel drive only. Maximum payload capacity is 1,500 pounds, whether you get the EcoBoost or hybrid powertrain.
Ford’s 4K Tow Package
There’s an optional 4K Package that’s offered with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine and all-wheel drive. This package increases the Maverick’s towing capacity to an incredible 4,000 pounds. It adds a trailer hitch receiver with a 7-pin connector, so you can tow things like campers for your weekend adventure.
The 4K Tow Package upgrades the Maverick’s powertrain with lower gear ratios, a higher-capacity radiator, and a transmission cooler. You also get a bigger cooling fan, which protects the engine from running hot during towing.
Tow/Haul Drive Mode
Five drive modes are standard in the 2024 Maverick: Normal, Tow/Haul, Slippery, Eco, and Sport. When towing, toggle to the “Tow/Haul” mode using the drive mode selector on the front center console. This mode controls the engine and transmission to make it easier for the truck to pull the load without overheating. You can switch to the other drive modes depending on the road conditions.
FX4 Off-Road Package
For off-road towing, there’s an available FX4 Off-Road Package that gives the Maverick better capability in rough terrain. It gets you unique 17-inch aluminum wheels, all-season tires, skid plates, front tow hooks, and a performance suspension. It also adds “Sand” and “Mud & Ruts” drive modes to help you traverse these terrains with ease.
Hill Descent Control
The available hill descent control feature can be useful when towing. It keeps your speed in check when driving down steep hills, so you don’t have to ride the brakes and wear them out.
BLIS With Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
The optional blind spot information system (BLIS) with rear cross-traffic alert improves safety when reversing out of parking spots with a trailer in tow. Rear cross-traffic alert spots cars coming from either side of your truck and alerts you to hit the brakes and avoid a crash.
The 2024 Maverick is a great truck for work and play. It lets you tow anything from equipment to boats and campers for your weekend adventures. Swing by Kemna Ford in Algona, IA to check it out!
